Pre-Construction

Land & Site Clearing

Full vegetation and tree clearing to prepare residential and commercial sites for construction, renovation or new landscaping. Council compliant, fully insured, all green waste responsibly handled.

Site Clearing Done Right

Whether you're preparing a single block for a new home, clearing the rear yard ahead of a renovation, or staging a site for a developer, the principles are the same. Get the right trees down, protect the ones that need to stay, manage permits properly, and leave the site ready for the next trade.

We've cleared sites across Boroondara, Stonnington, Manningham and surrounding councils for everything from single-dwelling renovations to multi-unit developments. Our approach combines arboricultural expertise with practical construction-site experience, which means we coordinate well with builders, surveyors, structural engineers and council officers.

Sites We Clear

Single Dwelling Renovations

Clearing the rear or side yards ahead of an extension, pool, or garage build. Tree retention assessed alongside removal scope.

Knock-Down Rebuilds

Full block clearing for new home construction. Coordinated with demolition contractors and builders.

Multi-Unit Developments

Townhouse and apartment site clearing, including TPZ implementation for retained trees and reporting for planning compliance.

Commercial Site Preparation

Office, retail and industrial site clearing, with traffic management and out-of-hours work available to minimise disruption.

Heavy Overgrowth Clearance

Neglected blocks, scrub clearance, removal of weed species (privet, pittosporum, broom) and self-sown trees.

Subdivision Preparation

Clearing for new lot creation, with arborist reports supporting subdivision planning applications.

How a Site Clearing Job Runs

Site clearing is more involved than a standard tree removal because it usually touches on permits, neighbours, trade coordination, and tree protection requirements. Our typical process:

  • Site walk and scope. We meet on site (often with the builder or owner) to identify what's being removed, what's being retained, and what permits apply.
  • Permit and arborist report assessment. Most councils require permits for canopy tree removal, and many development applications require an arborist report covering retained trees. We prepare these where needed.
  • Tree Protection Zones. For retained trees, we install TPZ fencing per AS 4970-2009 to protect them through the construction phase.
  • Staged removals. Larger sites are usually cleared in stages to suit the construction sequence and neighbour considerations.
  • Stump grinding. Typically included where the footprint is being built on or landscaped. Grinding depth adjusted to suit footings or planting.
  • Green waste removal. All material chipped on site and removed, or stored as mulch for the new landscape if requested.
  • Site handover. Cleared, raked, photographed, and ready for the next trade.

🏗️ Tree Protection Zones for Retained Trees

If trees are being retained on a development site, councils generally require Tree Protection Zones (TPZs) to be calculated and physically installed before any construction starts. The TPZ is a fenced exclusion area around each retained tree, sized to AS 4970-2009 based on the tree's trunk diameter. Damage to roots within the TPZ (from machinery, soil compaction, or excavation) is one of the most common reasons trees die during construction. We calculate TPZs as part of our arborist reports and can install the fencing as part of the site clearing job.
